Turning fast fashion into lasting fashion

Planetary problem
Australians collectively spend about $5 billion on fashion and three-fifths of that is trashed within a year. Fast fashion is a leading cause of environmental impact , creating more damage than the shipping and aviation industry combined.

Business challenge
Snapchat wanted to create a movement that spoke to Gen Z

Our approach
We underwent market analysis research, observations and conducted interviews that uncovered a handful of insights and ideas. But where we felt the greatest opportunity was the rise of second hand platforms like Depop and its serious downfall: customers’ inability to try clothing on like they would in a traditional shop.

Outcome
A user-centred second hand market place, where Snapchat lets you converts pics of clothes into lenses for people to try, sell, share and buy.

By creating a new social and sustainable shopping experience and simplifying the second-hand buying experience, we can empower Gen Z to abandon fast fashion and save the planet one outfit at a time.

Recognition
This entry placed us in the finals in Cannes Young Lions digital category, where we ended up taking the national title.
